Cruise Timing Assurance

All tours are scheduled with cruise ship departure times in mind. Yukon guests are returned to Skagway with sufficient buffer before ship departure.

If your ship’s all-aboard time differs from standard port timing, please include that information when booking.

Weather in Skagway, Alaska can change quickly — even in summer. If you are visiting by cruise ship, we strongly recommend dressing in layers so you stay comfortable throughout your tour.

For Skagway Town Tours (Morning Mini & Historic Highlights):

We recommend:
• A light waterproof or wind-resistant jacket
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Sunglasses
• Sunscreen
• A light sweater or fleece layer

Even when the sun is out, coastal weather can shift with little notice.

For the Yukon Summit & Dog Musher Camp Adventure:

This tour travels along the Klondike Highway into the Yukon Territory at higher elevations. Yukon weather can be cooler, windier — or occasionally sunnier and warmer — than Skagway on the same day.

We recommend:
• A valid physical passport (required for border crossing)
• Closed-toe walking shoes
• A waterproof outer layer
• A warm mid-layer (fleece or insulated jacket)
• Sunglasses (mountain glare can be strong)
• A hat for sun or wind protection

Mountain conditions can change quickly, and temperatures at the summit may differ significantly from town.

Many Alaska cruise guests underestimate how cool Southeast Alaska can feel — especially in the morning or at elevation. On warm days, it can also feel surprisingly hot in direct sun. Layering allows you to stay comfortable in changing conditions.

Reminder: A valid physical passport is required for all Yukon tours. Please bring it with you to the dock pickup location and do not leave it on your cruise ship.

Yes. All Skagway Day Trips tours are specifically scheduled around cruise ship arrival and departure times.

As a locally operated, owner-guided company, I personally monitor port schedules and plan each tour to return guests to the dock area well before their ship’s all-aboard time.

Skagway is a small port community, and travel distances are manageable. Even Yukon tours are timed carefully to ensure a comfortable return buffer prior to departure.

If your cruise ship has a modified schedule or an early all-aboard time, please include that information when booking so I can plan accordingly.

Your ship will not leave without you because of one of my tours.

The Skagway Day Trips vehicle is equipped with a wheelchair lift.

Guests who use wheelchairs are welcome, provided the mobility device can be safely lifted and secured inside the vehicle.

Because mobility devices vary in size and weight, guests must contact Skagway Day Trips in advance to confirm compatibility.

Please note:

• Lift weight limits apply
• Interior space is limited due to small-group seating
• Some tour stops include uneven historic terrain
• Scooter accommodation cannot be guaranteed without prior approval

Advance notice is required to ensure safe boarding and proper vehicle configuration.
